A word from
Liberty County Sheriff Bobby Rader
you want additional training, hands-on experience and to work in a county that
will appreciate your talents, I invite you to serve as a Reserve Deputy in Liberty County.
What Should I Know About Becoming A Reserve Deputy?
The Reserve Division is composed of dedicated individuals from all occupations and walks of life who devote a portion of their time to community service by working as volunteers with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. For most Reserves, these dedicated professionals hold down full-time jobs.
A Liberty County Reserve Deputy is a fully state-certified, non-paid peace officer who must meet all the physical and background requirements of a full-time paid peace officer.
Sheriff’s Department Reserve Deputies, just like full-time deputies, are required to perform many duties. These duties include, but are not limited to: arrest and control of suspects; crowd control; traffic enforcement; and crime scene security.
Reserve Deputies primarily support and supplement the Patrol Division. However, they may assist other divisions, when necessary, such as Civil Process, Transport, Warrants and Court-house Security.
Members train to maintain all required certifications and proficiency skills. Required training hours are offered by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, but are the responsibility of the individual reserve deputy to obtain.
Members of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Reserve division are required to donate a minimum of (16) sixteen hours service a month. Reserve Deputies are required to attend a Reserve meeting as well as the general Liberty County Sheriff’s Office meeting. These meetings are generally held one night a month at the Sheriff’s Office.
If you are interested in becoming a Reserve Deputy with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, an application can be down-loaded here: Employment Application or obtained at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, 2400 Beaumont Ave., Liberty, TX 77575.
