DOUBLE FATALITY IN LIBERTY CO. CAR CRASH

August 1, 2013:  A crash on the South bound lane of Hwy. 59 near CR. 3995 in North Liberty County, today at 3:04pm, claimed the lives of two white females when a red “bob tail” truck is reported to have side swiped their white GMC mini-van causing it to lose control and roll over. Cpl. James McQueen of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department reported that a third female was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition.

First reports were that the crash was a “hit and run” but Cpl. McQueen reported that the driver of the red “bob tail” truck did, in fact, turn around and return to the scene.

Justice of the Peace Judge Wade Brown of Pct. 5 responded to the scene and conducted the death investigation.
