FATHER SON SHOOTING ON CR 450
Jan 23, 2014
At approximately 3:47pm this evening, Sheriff’s Deputy
Robert Dunn responded to a shooting call at 1136 CR 450 in south Liberty County
where James Albert Nesler, age 63 reported to the dispatcher that he had just
shot his son, J.A. Nesler, age 27. Sgt. Investigators Kenny Dagle and Billy
Knox conducted the investigation with assistance from District Attorney Logan
Pickett and Texas Ranger Brandon Bess who also responded to the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the younger Nesler
lives at the home of his father, James Nesler and that a family argument took
place between them. At some point, according to James Nesler, his son came
towards him in a threatening manner. It was at this point that Mr. Nesler fired
one shot from a hand gun, striking his son in the chest.
Justice of the Peace, Judge Berry Graves pronounced the
younger Nesler deceased at the scene and ordered an autopsy.
James Nesler was transported to the Sheriff’s Department
where, at the present time, Sgt. Knox and Sgt. Dagle are interviewing the
witnesses. At this time a decision on charges has not been made and won’t be until
the investigation is complete and all statements and evidence obtained.
