MOTORCYCLE VS 18 WHEELER DOA CRASH ON HWY. 1960

Jan 27, 2014

At approximately 7:am this morning, Sheriff Department’s Sgt. Tommy Koen along with a Dayton Police Department unit and the Department of Public Safety responded to a fatal vehicle crash on Hwy. 1960 at CR 611 near the West Liberty County line and the City of Dayton City Limits. The crash involved a motorcycle rider and an 18 wheel tractor-trailer.

The weather conditions, no doubt, contributed to this crash as visibility was less than 100’ due to a very heavy and thick early morning fog. The preliminary indications were that the tractor trailer was heading south off CR 611 and turning east off CR 611 onto Hwy. 1960 while the motorcycle rider was headed west on Hwy. 1960. It appears the motorcycle struck the middle of the trailer and the rider was deceased at the scene.

All traffic was diverted off Hwy. 1960 onto CR 611 while DPS, who will conduct the entire investigation, continued their crash scene investigation and any further details of this crash will be from their agency
