MESSAGE FROM THE SHERIFF
The recent violence in this country has caused many people to voice their opinions on gun rights and gun control. The debate has caused many divisions over what is right or what is wrong with both the present gun laws and those that have been “proposed.”
I have received many phone calls and e-mails requesting my stance on the matter, and it is as follows:
I believe in both the Second and Fourth Amendments:
Amendment II: "...The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
Amendment IV: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated..."
When I took the oath of office on January 1, 2013, I swore to protect, preserve and defend the constitution and laws of the United States and of this great state. I served as Justice of the Peace in Liberty County for 14 years. I took the same oath for those years also. I am an instructor for the NRA. I am a member of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas. The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is a lifetime member of the Houston 100 Club. I promise that I will work to support the law-abiding citizens in Liberty County of these constitutional rights to keep and bear arms.
Bobby Rader, Sheriff
